Shadow artifact


Here is a photo in my living room of a real shadow from windows. The multiple panes give a nasty "artifact". With artificial lighting these are even more common.

Your reality has Mach banding. A spot of dithering will fix that. :-)

I sometimes see artifacts in the sun-sky, glitches like halos e.g., or an over saturated horizon ...

(sidenote: I skipped my own implementation for picogen and use the one provided together with your paper, for sake of correctness and sureness :D)
